Dr. Simon Curvers

Dr. Simon Curvers, Director Lignocellulosic Technologies

 

Dr. Curvers joined the initial staff when Direvo Industrial Biotechnology GmbH was created in 2008. Starting as a Director Business Development, he soon changed to the position of a Director Process Development and took over the responsibility of a Director Lignocellulosic Technologies in 2011.

In 2001, Dr. Curvers founded AC Biotec, a company offering fermentation development services as well as toll manufacturing on a small scale. AC Biotec was acquired by Direvo in 2007 and Dr. Curvers joined the Company. He received his Ph.D. from RWTH Aachen at Research Center Jülich’s Institute for Biotechnology in Jülich, Germany.

Steffen Köhler

Steffen Köhler, Director Industrial Applications

 

Mr. Köhler joined Direvo in February, 2009. After setting up and operating the Screening & Automation Department, he took over the responsibilities as a Director Industrial Applications in February, 2011. Prior to joining Direvo, Mr. Köhler worked for twelve years in positions of increasing responsibility at the Evotec AG (Hamburg, Germany) where he was responsible for setting up and operating the compound management department. Mr. Köhler received his degree in mechanical engineering from the Hamburg University of Applied Science in Hamburg, Germany.

Dr. Oliver Kensch

Dr. Oliver Kensch, Director External Affairs

 

Dr. Kensch transitioned to Direvo in 2008 after spending eight years in enzyme and strain engineering at Direvo Biotech AG. Being successful as project manager for developments in food, feed and biomass conversion, Dr. Kensch became Director of Industrial Biotechnology research in 2007. Today, he is responsible for Direvo's external affairs. Dr. Kensch received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Physiology in Dortmund, Germany.
